The evil man behind it all - Will Wright
I used to like Will Wright. He created Sim City, a fantastic game that celebrated the earth that God created for us and allowed you to use all your God given abilities to make an ideal society. But if you ever felt like you had too much power, God would come in with a tornado or an earthquake and put you back in place.
You would think that as a member of the Episcopal Church, a smart man like Will Wright would not be capable of creating Spore. However, we must be reminded that the Episcopal Church is the only church in america that ordains homosexuals on a regular basis.
It makes sense that a perverted church would cause a man to make the creations he has in this game. It just may be that evolution is not the only thing to fear this game teaching your children.

The very fact that this game was made in your own argument is more than the evidence you should need to see we were a mistake.
God sent jesus, and you know what he was better than all of us right? that’s becuase he was created in gods image. And seeing as jesus was more important it only stands to logic that we were not the same as jesus and thus god gave up on us becuase instead of finding everyone jesus meet to be equal to the son of god, everyone was just killing and following. jesus was better than us becuase we are no created in gods image such as he was.

Ok Jay Jay I just want to clear you up on the concept of creation and how evolution is not a viable or supported theory of creation. First of all macro evolution would require millions and millions of years to be carried out. Now if we look at a timeline of the Bible and you believe the Bible to be true then the earth would only be around 6,000-10,000 years in age.
Now lets put time aside for now and assume you do have the millions of years needed for evolution to work, well then you run into another problem. The Bible claims that all the animals ate plants and were peaceful and that there where no diseases present before the fall. Well if you look at your beloved fossil record you will see that there is carnivores activity way back near the beginning and also suggestion of disease meaning that the Bible would have to be wrong on this account and that God would have lied, however we also read in many parts of the Bible that God does not lie. SO based on that creation and evolution cannot be “married” into one theory as many have done and as you have tried to do.

Ah admin, but how would he explain such a process to a more primitive man? I am completely tolerant to whatever anyone wants to believe in, its their time here to spend as they wish, if they don’t agree with me its not my problem. People can interpret things such as the Bible in many ways.
Just for the sake of the discussion isn’t understandable in some small way that when God had his message put into word through the pens of men that he had to explain it in a way they would comprehend? It was the age of miracles according to the Book, and men then would easily understand 7 day creationism, but probably would have no clue if instructed to write that as God slowly manipulated molecules into the way he desired them through time and effort man took shape from the genetic material he created.
The game is just that, a game, its fiction to entertain. There is no message to unravel, its a playground formed around the idea that science has put forth. The terrible creations that you have posted (And yes they are terrible and appalling) are not actually included anywhere in the game. They are created by the player with the toolset available. They don’t evolve, the player can choose to skip that step and just use the assets available to make whatever he feels like. This leads to oddballs and freaks producing nasty and unnecessary things to post and giggle about. EA itself is deleting these creatures when they get uploaded and banning the users from connecting the game back online when they get caught so EA is actually trying to help.
If there is anyone to worry and pray about, its the individuals that feel it needed to use a simple tool set for a game and do their best to pervert it. The game is a canvas and trying to ban and curb this game is like trying to ban or curb the use of paper and pencils. People have been using THOSE tools for terrible things for a lot longer.
Remember when interpreting the Bible, even the faithful have been arguing about its interpretation almost since is was completed.

The Bible is an imperfect human creation written hundreds of years after the events of which it mainly speaks about. Also the Bible is written by a number of different people, one for each Book for the most part.
And the Bible is filled with errors, from chronological to geographical.
Also, evolution is just a concept. It isn’t some force guiding the world or universe. It is just a word to describe the noticable way in which on a macro level creatures seem to change based on the enviroment they are living in. But the individual creatures don’t change, one creature might have a genetic mutation which makes it more likely to survive, those it’s genetic make up because more common. Then suddenly you have a new completely distinct creature from the original. Things change over time, and the term for that event is Evolution.

I’m so disappointed in Will Wright. When he first announced the game I assumed it was about plants or something. I thought it was such an odd name for a game but I was still excited because he has made so many great games before.
When I learned it was about evolution I became really upset. I promised my nephew to buy this game for them but now I can’t because it’s filled to the brim with the words of the devil! Needless to say he got very sad when I told him that.
This evolution thing is really becoming increasingly annoying. Almost every day I hear people talk about fossile evidence and geological proof but I don’t care about things I don’t understand. I have all the proof I need in the holy book. If Jesus lived at the time of evolution you’d think he’d mention it in his book, the Bible. But no! Scientists never bother to mention that part in their “evidence”.

Learn to respect others and their beliefs. We are not in the middle ages, nor in the inquisitions. I think that creation itself is not as important as the rest of the bible. God spent two chapters in one book explanning creation.then from there to the end of Malachi he shows us life without christ. he also shows us that we need christ. then the first four books of the new testiment are christ and his teachings. then the rest until revelation is what to do with his teachings. then revelation is his return. So, if you look at it from a large perspective the bible is mostly about christ. if god (wether evolution is true or not) actually cared that we know HOW he created then genisis would have been a larger book. The purpose is christ and to be like christ. Showing the unsurpassable worth of all of creation. This includes “sinners”(as though we are not all sinners) and “saved”. The thing i love about this debate is that it forgets that there are bigger problems in the world. Science has forgotten that it exsists to make life better for all of us. studying macro-evolution does not do this. micro does but not macro. Christians are here to spread the new about jesus but we are so focused on evolution and political control that we dont love anyone into the kingdom. If scientists would make the physical better and christians bring people to christ then who has time to argue about macro-evolution.

Looking in the Bible for a literal timeline is flawed as it is filled with seperate books, filled with stories and works, with some being passed down generations orally. Also, if you take into account Genesis, and how God created the Earth in 6 days and rested the 7th, how is there any viable way of knowing how long God’s day’s are? His days could be millions of years long. How could God have created the Earth and the sun on a day timeline when there was neither day or night at the time? jay jay is right, God could have created evolution. I believe that God created evolution as a means that his creations could adapt to better suit themselves.

EA is not trying to impose any ideals on anyone. Indeed, in a game with pseudo-scientific backgrounds (though the actual evolutionary path is not pure Darwinian) they allow a “religious” path for the creatures to follow. Claiming spore to be evil is silly, it’s simply a game.

While I am not a theologian, nor do I believe in ghosts, but I do happen to know a thing or two about Christianity and religion in general, being an educated person and all.
What I know is that the bible is a series of stories, often conflicting, written by humans. Unlike the Muslim Koran, there’s nothing in Christian mythology that states that the words of the bible was handed down from god. If you do read the bible, as I have done myself, you will note several contradictions. If you follow the mythology’s pattern, this can be explained by the fact that it was stories told by humans. The essence of the work is what most learned theologians accept as the most important part of the bible, not the precise word.
There are many scientists who believe in a higher being and/or an afterlife of some sort. These are educated and wise people, yet they accept that the Bible is not precise, though they still have faith in the essential stories that the bible tell of: Creation, Jesus as the son of God, and so on.
However, there is a large amount of ignorant people who seem to think that science somehow goes against the word of God or the Bible. This is, to say the least, ludicrous.
The bible never actually does state when the earth was created, it has been calculated based on tales of the lineage from Adam and Eve. It’s fairly easy to understand that if one assumes the bible to have been written a few thousand years after these incidents at the VERY MINIMUM, that whoever was told the story, took a few shortcuts, that would be human nature, and frankly, there’s nothing wrong about it. I can’t blame a guy for not wanting to write down a family tree going back 10 million years with the average life span being somewhere between 20 and 100 years. It doesn’t make a very good reading, either, to be frank, and if such a lineage was written down, I doubt anyone would read it, or hold any real belief to it.
As for your general rants, I’m impressed. You live by double standards. While in Spore, one would have to actively attempt to get what might be considered offensive images, your site offers them right up front with absolutely no warning label at all. Consider the result if a kid who is wondering about Spore finds your site. Instead of finding what might be a good warning, he gets “naked people and penises” on the front page. Not very responsible of you AT ALL.
On a side not, I should mention that on the Super Nintendo (SNES) version of Sim City, it was Bowser who was responsible for natural disasters, which puts this specific post in a tad bit of trouble…
As for the stock prices of Electronic Arts, it has indeed sunk slightly since the release of spore. However, the deviation we are talking about, are well within the standard deviation we can see on EA for the last 2-3 months. The nature of the stock market is that stocks go up and down. I’m sure a stock broker can confirm that it’s fairly normal that a company has a stock slightly higher right before the launch of a much advertised product. In this case, the drop probably compensated for what might have been inflated, but I’m no stock expert. However, just looking at it statistically (and I do have an education that requires statistics), it’s not possible to draw any real conclusions from the relatively small fall in the stock price.

Hence the reason no two people ever look the same. Where does this “God wrote the bible” thing come from? The new testament was written about a hundred years after Christ, and since then has been mistranslated and messed around with so many times that I simply have to ask myself “What would Jesus do/say?” when I find a section of the bible that doesn’t quite fit with the rest.

No. A lot of things happened in the bible, and not all of them were literal. Personally, I’d rather believe in evolution than in the entire human race being born from two people. Mind you that continuing for another generation would require inbreeding, which I don’t find to be particularly Christian either. I honestly see where your coming from with this, as a person of faith myself, but I would like it if you would look at it from another viewpoint. The Bible is one great book, but isn’t perfect. Much of it was written by man after hearing gods word or events directly related to his glory. And 100% accuracy is unlikely.
“The earth was made in 7 days” What is seven days to one as grand as god? all of time? Perhaps we still live in that “seventh day.” You see a lot of interesting things if you don’t take the more mystical passages early on literally. Eating the fruit in the garden could have meant the day we gained sentience and became a thinking race. Then the concept of good and evil entered our hearts and we were set apart from nature.
I think that in all gods glory, evolution could be a brilliant tool to accomplish gods goal. and if you think about spore, it’s like that too. There is no random evolution, it’s guided from the first single cell to the great race that travels across the stars. In effect, it’s a god simulator (abet much more limited than he would be. And your race doesn’t become a demon or something perverted automatically. it is what YOU make it. If you want a peaceful race that eats only plants, makes alliances rather than fights, and unites all the members of it’s species on the planet through religion and peaceful co-existence, then by all means.

Admin, the bible was put together by the Nicene Creed using storys told from the 12 apostles as well as some other places. The Creed took all of their godly knowledge and basically put together a book of what they wanted people to read. They specifically left some truths out as well as put some lies in. The bible’s all good and well if you follow it spiritually, listening and learning from its teachings, but the bible itself (the book) is fiction. God didn’t write anything in the bible. People did. Very good people who looked around and saw misery and plight. These people took it upon themselves to write, at the time, more believable versions of common myths and stories. In these stories they imbued the morals that were considered appropriate at the time, such as forcing the victim of a violent rape to marry the rapist if a child was conceived and that stealing from others is bad. Some of these morals hold up today and some do not. What is good is that people read this book and decided to stop being turds to each other and bring some peace to the world. What is bad is that some people used this book as a weapon. They used it to divide the world into believers and non-believers and therefore set up a system that can suppress part of the population and pamper another part of the population. Luckily the world is changing today and literal interpretations of the bible are becoming less popular and people are taking away the true meaning of the bible. Be a good person, help others in need, don’t cause harm to others.

Admin. I just want to say this in counter to your arguement. First off I am a follower of the intelligent design theory, but also evolution. I was also the grandson of a reverend (who’s place my uncle has taken since his death from Parkinsons God rest his soul) and my mother was a very religious person.
First off the issue of the bible contradicting my views. I don’t trust it. Pure and simple. Even if God told others what to write, man has a nasty habit of altering things, by accident or for some form of gain. I believe it has many lessons from which we can learn and the life of Jesus is a great example of how we should live. However I do not trust everything within the Bible to be historical fact when physical evidence points elsewhere for it may well be fallible.
Now to your statement. Isn’t it a bit arrogant to presume that God would have to mention evolution in the Bible? How can you possibly comprehend the mind of the Creator, whatever name it goes by or indeed even if it has a name?
If you look at the old testament God is clearly shown to be a great being in terms of power but has been seen to be jealous, angry and a whole host of other negative emotions alongside his gentler side. This makes me think that he may well be the Creator but he seems to be more human than Christianity makes out (so maybe we were made in his image!). However this neither proves, nor disproves evolution even if it were true.
Now I do not presume to change your faith. However you have made a blatant attack on a game which is a fictional game and the majority of your arguements are based on things created by immature players!! So this is my counterarguement. I wanted to make a reasoned plea for the other side rather than the obvious trolling you would get from the majority of the internet (also the same immature people who created those obscene creatures). Think more carefully about this so called fight against a game! I mean there are games full of violence and bloody battles (which I find OK as they are only games ffs) but this is the one you jump on?

I’m not bashing you, but I do wonder if you consider the fact that if you look at the probabilities, the bible not being right is much more likely. Now, the science that clashes with what the bible says has never been shown to have the kind of error that you say it does. Step back for a second, and see that one one hand you’ve got several fields of science that have never actually been proved wrong, and on the other hand you have a book recording events that people say happened 2,000 years ago. Understand that not only are you saying that the theory of evolution, the effects of which can be seen (albeit at a miniscule rate), is wrong, that carbon dating, which besides clashing with the bible, has shown no major inaccuracies is wrong, and that the science which supports a model of the universe that has never been shown to be wrong, is wrong, as well as many other fields. Now, me being the atheist I am, I am totally willing to believe in whatever religion… that I believe (personal opinion) is really plausible, but honestly, if you don’t take the the story of the bible as truth as a given, and consider that it could be wrong, it’s easy to see a few flaws in it. On the other hand, nothing is %100 or %0 percent true, so there’s always the chance that either science or religion could be true.

You probably see it as a single force that is out to disprove your faith, but it’s really comprised of the theories of millions of people who had a question and tested it time and time and time again until it was realized as truth. Oh wow. Have you even thought for a second that many people don’t even believe in a ’super natural’ or ‘almighty’ being? Supposedly that the game does support the theory of evolution, who are you to say that they are wrong, when chances are, you may be equally as wrong in your beliefs?
I’m an advid gamer, and am an athiest myself as I honestly do not see the logic behind an upper being creating everything as we know it. I personally support the theory of evolution, but as far as I’m aware, it hasn’t been ‘completely’ proven or disproven; just as God and the bible have a chance of being fictitious as well. Just because ‘Spore’ gives the player the choice of being able to create their own creature, doesn’t mean that it is in anyway evil. Humans being made in God’s likeness is also debateable. We are a destructive, ‘impure’ species, wouldn’t that make your God just as evil?
Your main reasoning behind ‘AntiSpore’ just isn’t good enough. There are plenty of games that have nothing to do with God. By your logic, every game that doesn’t praise God, or support religious beliefs should be banned. The game series, Halo for example, has a plot that revolves around a religious alien clan, ‘The Covenent’, that believes that several ring-shaped planets will bless them in God’s light. Turns out, humans in the game end up destroying The Covenent because their ‘God’s Instruments’ in reality, destroys every lifeform within a galaxy radius. There are also games such as the Ratchet and Clank series, and the Sonic the Hedgehog series that feature anthromorphic animal characters as the main protaganists in their respective games. No protaganists, but that doesn’t mean that the games are evil in anyway, and are in the most part, lighthearted and good nature. Both of which, are normally shunned by religious beliefs.
If anything, this website is just a radical movement telling others that they are wrong in their enjoyment and beliefs because you feel differently.
About your EA’s profits going down argument, that doesn’t necessarily mean that Spore or EA Games are evil in anyway. EA has in general been making poorly developed games that just aren’t all that fun to play anymore. Even though the stocks did go down by a buck, EA is still stupidly wealthy.
Will Wright is by no means anymore evil than yourself or any other human being. He’s probably a really nice guy in reality (I don’t know him personally, to be honest) and made a game that he thought you would entertain creative minds. Unfortunately, some of those creators have a crude sense of humor (in example, penis monsters). Although its a shame that the game is being used in that manner, its not of anyone elses’ concern on how those people spend their time with the game.

The real problem here is that the bible and Christianity, like almost all religions today, comes from a time when folk lore and stories were still used to explain natural “phenomena” like rain and or earthquake. These stories coupled with a system of rules and consequences, (eg. sins + going to hell) gave us religion.
Just like everything else in society, as it advances, so do the things associated with and around it. Religion has done the same, many gods to one god, human sacrifice to loving thy neighbor. The next step in its progression would be for it to be completely dropped altogether. We have advanced enough to create our own laws therefor religion is no longer needed to help govern us. Now we have a much more logical ways for explaining natural “phenomena” that all seem to work with one another, so religion is also not required there either. In all accounts religion is not need by humans any more.
Another simple reason why religion is no longer needed is, religion gives one another way to discriminate against each other. What are all the conflicts raging in the middle east about? Religious differences. Not only today do we have this problem but through out most of human history religion has played a part in most major conflicts, clearly going against most religious teachings.
Religion is clearly as Freud said, “Religion is an infantile neurosis of humanity and should have already been grown out of.”

The bible isn’t a book of sciences, it’s a way of life. It is very possible that the WRITERS of the bible (not god) made a mistake. Please, the bible shouldn’t be taken for complete fact.
Coming from a Christian background, I really have to question the validity of this site. I can understand your avarice against Spore due to your personal beliefs, but it seems to me that all you’re doing is attempting to antagonize anyone who believes differently than you. Jesus said to go and make disciples in His name, He didn’t say to force Christianity down everyone’s throats. All I’ve seen this site doing is creating arguments and belittling those who provide scientific theories with their opinions, or who defend Spore as being “just a game.”
On that last bit, Spore is just a game, more like a creative tool for artistic expression. Sure, some are going to use that tool to create objectionable content, but you can’t blame the tool for that. You’d have to turn your attention to the user who created the content. What you’re doing is equivalent to blaming fire for a person being burned because s/he decided to sit on an open flame. Spore isn’t attempting to promote evolution, or to disprove the existence of God. And I doubt that was EA’s or Will Wright’s main goal. EA is a company whose main job is to make profit, and Will Wright is a creative person, whose goal behind Spore was probably to create an experience that went above and beyond his previous Sims titles. I doubt either one has the ultimate goal to rally against Christianity.
And as for your comment on evolution not being stated in the Bible. Sure, it’s not, but so aren’t many other things. Archeologists uncover dinosaur skeletons and fossils millions of years old, yet the Bible doesn’t say anything about them. Astronomy has uncovered the existence of hundreds of planets and galaxies, but if you read only the Bible, you’d think that Earth was the only thing in existence. Evolution isn’t in the Bible, but I do believe that it happens, but on a micro level. Research some scientific studies and you’ll find evidence of creatures better adapting to their environment by small changes. It might be a change in color patterns to better blend in with their environment, or the disappearance of an appendage because it’s never used. Even humanity has a tailbone that no one knows what it was used for. My point is that creatures change, they EVOLVE. It’s natural selection at it’s best. Humans don’t do this because we can think. We don’t adapt to our environment, we adapt our environment to us.
Yes, this is a long response, but I felt it necessary to point out some flaws in your views. I think this site actually works against Christianity by giving those who don’t believe more ammunition to keep from believing or even learning something about it. You’d do more by providing facts and reasons as to why you believe what you believe, instead of just ridiculing those who respond to your comments. Of course, there are those who won’t believe in something no matter what you do. In the end, your views, beliefs and the way you live your life are your own. Will Wright is not evil! Spore is not the sin of god. It’s just a game! Why would you go out and attack Will Wright because he made a game that shouldn’t be taken seriously. I hope this is all a joke. Just cause it has evolution in the game, doesn’t make it an evil game.
If some people really want to believe the world is less than 6000 years old, in the face of millions of separate items of visible, holdable evidence to the contrary, that is fine.
But to start a campaign against a childrens game’ that merely uses the most realistic and obvious form of character development / growth available to the the designers (evolution) is just ridiculous, and to the point of laughability.
I wouldn’t be surprised if you were the same people that tried to get Harry Potter banned for inciting children to devil-worship, another utterly preposterous claim, as without foundation as the bible itself. While I am on that subject, I would add that the examples of morality on offer in her books are far superior, more compassionate, braver, and more courageous than anything I could find in the bible. I find it funny how you said SimCity was a good game because you’d use your god given rights to build a city, but if you had too much power, God would come in with tornadoes or earthquakes to bring you back down.
