Sorry folks but conspiracies only stretch but so far.<\/p>\nFinally, who did just biblically enrage, Rick Roll, and expose Poe’s Law on this fun corner of the internet? No it wasn’t EA, Will Wright, Anonymous, \/b\/, 4chan, the goons, etc. Sorry folks but they don’t get to take credit anymore then you get to give it to them. I’m happy to say all of this was the plan of just two and we two are not associated with any of those aforementioned or left out organizations, persons. So lets find out about the two that are responsible.<\/p>\n

\nSo my first thought isn’t to thank you guys\/gals, but instead to let you know just how hard it was to keep this going. I felt like a kid that had somehow gotten stuck in a Christmas Eve version of Ground Hogs Day, sans Bill Murry of course. But I was watching closely and knew exactly when I wanted to end it.<\/p>\nK had come to me with this idea for the site and I said lets run with it! By the way, it’s only 15$ to register a domain, even privately, I’m sorry to all those people that think this is WAY too much money to waste, but hey maybe the economy will turn around soon. K had the idea and I set us up and running in no time (read 15mins). I knew this was going to be a great chance to put Poe’s Law to the test and you guys didn’t let me down in the slightest. I will say we were slightly worried with all the death threats folks were leaving here and in the email account. I mean seriously folks, take a look at yourself and really think that one through next time someone challenges your views.<\/p>\n
K wasn’t sure how this should end in light of the hate, but I knew from the start there was only one way I wanted to walk out of this, and that was Rollin’. I let K write the posts mostly about the game, my touches came into the personal posts, as with the final dive into the Bible. Probably my biggest joy from this project has been the positive reactions to my Roll.<\/p>\n
I’m not much for talking unless there is a project connected to it, so I will leave the rest to K to explain, he’s more fond of stats and records then I am, and just leave you with this:<\/p>\n

\nElectronic Arts, you publish some great games, but you need to figure out how to do it without treating your loyal customers like criminals.
\nEpiscopal Church, I think it is pretty cool that you are progressive enough to move forward and accept all types of people. \u00a0I personally think that love for all humans is a key message in the bible that should be practiced by all, religious or not.<\/p>\n
As our first project in this series, the concept behind the site was not only to experiment with Poe’s law, but to create controversy where there was none, end it all in a funny way, and hope that no one wanted to kill us afterwards.<\/p>\n
I hope everyone had a good laugh in the end, and I hope that those who have not yet figured it out do soon… \u00a0I don’t want people to be angry forever.<\/p>\n
I chose spore because the game actually did a pretty good job meeting somewhere in the middle of creation and evolution and so there was almost no controversy surrounding it. \u00a0Additionally, since it had just been released, there was already a lot of online discussion about the game.<\/p>\n
I knew the project would attract a lot of attention from the gaming community, but it really exceeded my expectations. \u00a0The first day was off to a slow start, but by the second day Kotaku picked it up and traffic exploded. \u00a0 I honestly didn’t expect us to get much more attention than that, but by the 3rd day our traffic had almost tripled. \u00a0Finally traffic started to slow so A figured that the 4th day would be perfect for ending with a subtle Rick roll.<\/p>\n
On the Rick Roll scale, we rolled more people than the Shea Stadium roll, but less than the April fools Youtube Roll.<\/p>\n
My biggest surprise out of the whole thing was the sheer number of incredibly angry comments that at the time of this writing are still coming in a day after the Rick roll. I expected maybe a few hundred tops.. but we received more than 7000! and mostly from people who did not take the time to speak very calmly or rationally. \u00a0But hey, it is the internet, what can you expect?<\/p>\n
